The Rileigh and Raylee Angel Ride Foundation was organized in 2001. The foundation is named after and honors two children from Baldwin County: Rileigh Glass, who was born with Downs Syndrome and Raylee Odom, who has Muscular Dystrophy. Both of these genetic conditions pose health risks that usually involve special medical intervention. A small group of family and friends of these two individuals have first hand knowledge of the hardships involved in carnig for children with illnesses and disabilities. This group turned their awareness into the determination to establish the foundation we are today.
Our mission statement is to assist families with children, ages 18 and under, who have special medical needs. Since 2001, we have assisted over 700 families from Mobile and Baldwin counties and from other surrounding geographical areas. Angel Ride has helped many children and families to get wheel chair lifts, receive financial aid for hospital and medical bills, and by paying for travel expenses, medications and any other expenses not covered by insurance.
Angel Ride's major fundraiser is held in November at Oak Hollow Farms in Fairhope, Alabama. It consists of the Concert held on Friday night and the Angel Ride and Concert held on Saturday. Every year we invite the children and families we have helped to attend a special event at the Children's Tent prior to the concert on Saturday. We also have a silent auction, a bike show, a merchandise tent, and many different vendors! Entertainment for the fundraiser has been an all-star cast of musicians, including T. Graham Brown, Charlie Daniels, Lone Star, 38 Special, Dilbert McClinton and Gregg Allman.
Our event last year in 2007 was a huge hit! We had 25 vendors at the fundraiser and expect even more this year. An estimated 3000 bikers attended the bike show and our total attendance for the year was 8000! In 2007, we also began offering camping at Oak Hollow and filled 120 campsites.
This event would not be possible without our major sponsors, bikers, spectators, volunteers, vendors, security personnel and community support.
Join us for this year's event, which will be held November 7 and 8, 2008!
