In past years when
Jim Bodtke and Harmony Rust participated in the Annual Angel
Ride event to raise money for the Rileigh & Raylee Angel Ride
Foundation, Inc. they never realized they would be receiving
funds one day themselves. As a result of the horrific traffic
accident on the Cochrane Bridge this past Thanksgiving Day, the
family sustained many serious injuries including young Emma,
just two weeks before her fourth birthday. |
“I learned about the Angel
Ride and the foundation a few years ago from my Aunt and Uncle, local
Fairhope business owners who contributed to the event. We then began
participating in the ride to help raise money,” said Harmony Rust. “Our
lives have changed significantly now because of that accident. So many
people will stop men in the store or at a gas station and mention that
they have been praying for us and wishing the best for my family. Those
kinds words and charitable contributions are helping us greatly.”
The $2000 received from the Rileigh & Raylee Angel Ride Foundation will
help with the costs sustained from Emma’s brain surgery and continued
occupational rehabilitation. Rust stated that Emma will ask about the
large scar on her face sometimes, but it hasn’t stopped her from
beginning to play and act like the happy, energetic four-year old child
she was prior to the accident.
